Created during the COVID lockdown, HOT PAPER LIVE LOVE is a virtual travel to the imaginary country of our desires and fantasies. A displacement without displacement, in which cutouts, drawings, patterns and colors are combined with a sensual choreography for fingers and hands, makes the audience go on a slow journey around their personal and intimate dreams. Juggling between object theater, experimental peep-show and erotic paper-performance, in HOT PAPER LIVE LOVE several cutouts of drawn. weird creatures and half animal-half human hybrid figures become arranged and assembled, to compose a fragmented sensual anti-linear oneiric tale. Tracing papers are juxtaposed into a dance as characters appear and disappear. Fingers caress the sensitive surfaces of paper, see-through silk and lace as they hide and reveal intimate scenes, conducive to an open reading in which layers of bodies and hearts - between memory, dream and ignited fantasy - are overlapped and intertwined. Far from the canons and standards of beauty, a new erotic aesthetic of the body emerges, which transgresses normative representations and discourses of mainstream heterosexual pornography, while defying the boundaries between genders and multiple sexualities. Here, the touch and caress, generally neglected in classic pornographic imagination, become the central elements of the choreography.
Anna Ádám (b. 1983) is a Franco-Hungarian performance maker and visual artist whose work blurs the boundaries between choreography, image, and object, with emphasis on the body as the central form of expression. She studied dance, performance, choreography, visual arts, and fashion before obtaining her Master of Arts from the ENSAPC Art School in Cergy, France, in 2016. Her interdisciplinary and often site-specific projects echo the broader socio-political context from a feminist and queer theoretical perspective, focus on socio-cultural changes and sub-cultures, challenge hegemonic class, gender, normative behaviors, and dominant ideologies. By combining choreography, photography, drawing, installation, and clothing, Anna Ádám’s work is also an exploration of the performative potential of the image and of the object in general, with a focus on cultural, ideological, social, and heteronormative structures. Anna Ádám also participated as a performance artist to external projects (Palais de Tokyo (FR), Musée Georges Pompidou (FR)...). Since 2015 she presents regularly her work in both theaters (E-Werk Kulturzentrum (DE), Theater MU (HU), National Theater (HU), Piccolo Teatro (DE)...) and exhibition spaces (Ludwig Museum (HU), Museum of Modern Art Yerevan (AM), National Museum of History Paris (FR)...), and holds workshops and seminars in universities across Europe (Sweden, Hungary, Serbia, France, Armenia...).
